Cades Cove Cabin Original
Cades Cove Cabin Original
Cades Cove Cabin was painted in oil on 24x18 triple-primed canvas and the Original is still available.
The Carter Shields Cabin, which is its real name, is a rustic log cabin built in the 1880's and is one of many historic structures in this pioneer settlement which attracts almost 2 million visitors per year to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
I have fond memories of going fishing in Abrams Creek and watching my dad land a rainbow trout. The headwaters of this creek start in Cades Cove and all I remember besides the trout was that we hiked 2.5 miles to get there making it a 5 mile round trip. For a little guy it was almost too much! Seeing the cabin is vague to me now, but the family time was priceless!
